Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), blasted the federal and Punjab governments on Friday for blocking motorways and enforcing Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in advance of the PTI’s “do-or-die” demonstration.
His comments followed the announcement by a Motorway Police spokeswoman that five motorways, including M-I and M-II, would be closed to traffic starting at 8 p.m. tonight in order to undergo repairs.
“The imposition of Section 144 and the closure of hotels in Punjab proves ‘Un ki kanpen tang rahi hain’ [their legs are shivering]” CM Gandapur remarked in response to the stringent measures taken to address the PTI’s “final call” for nationwide protests scheduled for November 24.
It is important to note that Islamabad has outlawed public meetings.
