The top leaders of the former ruling party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), have reaffirmed their commitment to starting the protest on Sunday for the release of party founder Imran Khan, deciding to keep the date of the march to Islamabad the same just one day before the much-anticipated demonstration.
The PTI’s decision follows days after the party founder, who has been imprisoned since August of last year, called for protests across the country earlier this month against the detention of party workers, the controversial 26th Constitutional Amendment, and alleged election rigging on February 8. On the approaching Sunday, he urged his followers to march to Islamabad.
