After days of skirmishes that left at least 30 dead and dozens injured, the warring tribal tribes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district have finally agreed to a seven-day ceasefire, a KP government spokeswoman said on Sunday.
Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif issued a statement following the delegation’s meeting with the tribal leaders, which he chaired, in an attempt to halt the fighting. “The two parties have agreed to return each other’s hostages and bodies,” he added.
He mentioned that in order to meet with leaders from both sides, the government delegation took a plane to Parachinar, the capital of Kurram, on Saturday.
Today, the group met with both sides of the conflict in an attempt to broker a ceasefire agreement before taking further action to end the conflict.
