ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari both harshly denounced the incident on the Srinagar Highway on Tuesday, in which Rangers and police officers were allegedly mowed down by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members.
They prayed for the victims’ ranks to be raised in the hereafter and for the bereaved families to have the fortitude to cope with the loss, expressing their profound sorrow for the martyrdom of Rangers personnel in the tragedy.
In his statement, the prime minister instructed the relevant authorities to find the offenders, hold them accountable, and provide the injured security personnel with the finest medical care available.
“Attacking the police and Rangers in the name of so-called peaceful protests is condemnable,” said the premier.
