In comparison to the daily average of the previous 28 days, the demand for VPN services in Pakistan increased by 102% on November 25, according to Top10VPN, an independent website that reviews VPN services.
On November 26, the demand for VPNs increased even further, rising 213% above the baseline.
Reports that authorities had curtailed WhatsApp media sharing ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protest marches coincided with the surge.
Downdetector.com, a service that detects when there is a disruption on social platforms or websites, revealed that Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and other platforms are experiencing disturbances in Pakistan.
