On social media, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has publicly entered British politics, criticizing Prime Minister Sir Kevin Starmer and issuing “civil war” predictions.
In the background, however, his company was working to convince the incoming administration to implement a policy that would increase his company’s earnings.
The company stated that electric vehicle (EV) subsidies may be obtained by taxing consumers who purchase gasoline and diesel vehicles, and it asked for the mandate to increase sales of EVs to be expanded to include trucks.
“The government should ask those still choosing to purchase a new polluting vehicle to pay more,” said Joe Ward, the European head of Tesla, in a July letter to Lilian Greenwood, the roads minister.
