ISLAMABAD: On Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mofa) said that 47 Pakistanis had been recovered from the location where the boat capsized close to Greece and that one more migrant had been declared dead in the incident.
As the rescue effort continues, MoFA confirmed the situation in response to rumors about the casualties but also hinted at the potential for further casualties.
“At this stage, we are unable to confirm the number of deceased or missing Pakistani nationals,” the ministry said.
At least five migrants perished when their wooden boat overturned off the island of Gavdos in southern Greece, the coast guard said on Saturday, adding that numerous others were still unaccounted for while search efforts went on.
