Days after it arrived, young people demolished a knitted mailbox topper with a Christmas theme that was made as a surprise for nursery kids.
The topper, which featured a knitted Santa Claus, was created last Tuesday for Charnwood Nursery in Thurmaston, Leicestershire, by an unidentified artist known as the Syston Knitting Banxy (SKB).
Although the decorated postbox delighted the staff and kids, the knitted Santa on top had vanished from his yellow knit chair by Saturday.
SKB and the nursery expressed their sadness over the “thoughtless” act of vandalism.
In the early hours of Saturday, CCTV footage purportedly showed two young, masked criminals fiddling with the topper before tearing off the Santa from the top of the exhibit.
