KARACHI: According to The News on Sunday, US Republican Congressman Joe Wilson urges President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir to free former Prime Minister Imran Khan, claiming that doing so would improve ties between the US and Pakistan.
Wilson wrote that Khan’s release “would be a major step towards strengthening US-Pakistan relations” in a letter to Pakistan’s military and civilian leadership.
Wilson, the assistant majority whip and representative for South Carolina’s 2nd congressional district, posted the letter on X (previously Twitter) on February 7th, making the plea public.
“Happy to send this letter to Pakistan’s military and political leaders today to free Imran Khan,” he wrote.
