ISLAMABAD: On the evening of February 28 (Friday), the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will gather in Peshawar to observe the Ramadan moon. The holy month of fasting will start on March 1 (Saturday) if the crescent is visible.
The meeting will begin following the Asr prayer and be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the head of the committee.
A statement from the Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that several zonal committee meetings will also be held in their respective domains in order to receive and evaluate accounts of moon sightings.
To determine the start of the ninth Islamic month, clerics from all philosophical traditions will gather at the central meeting.
During the holy month, millions of Pakistanis will participate in religious fervor and passion.
