LAHORE: Because Moonis Elahi, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has not been in court for several months, a special court on Tuesday deemed him a “proclaimed offender” in connection with a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) money laundering case.
The FIA, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have all filed numerous cases of corruption and money laundering against the former federal minister, who left the nation in December 2022.
Along with the announcement, Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, the judge of the Central Special Court in Lahore, also issued a perpetual arrest warrant for Moonis.
“The accused purposefully went into hiding. The judge said, “FIA can take action on Moonis’s arrest by contacting [International Criminal Police Organization] Interpol.
