RAWALPINDI: His own accomplices opened fire on the police on Tuesday in an effort to free the suspect who is accused of raping and killing a seven-year-old child.
The police claim that the suspect, who was actually the victim’s maternal uncle, had been arrested the previous evening and was being transported for the purpose of recovering evidence when the attackers opened fire on the police party, wounding the suspect, who passed away during the transfer to the hospital.
According to police records, the suspect resided close to the victim’s home and was a drug user, specifically of ice.
