According to an Israeli official and two other people familiar with the situation, President Donald Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States was not yet willing to support an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, but Israel has not ruled out doing so in the upcoming months.
Netanyahu has maintained that any negotiations with Iran must result in the total destruction of its nuclear program, and Israeli leaders have pledged to stop Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
According to the sources, Israel has presented the Trump administration with a number of alternatives over the past few months for attacking Iranian facilities, some of which have late spring or summer dates.
