The president appears to be promoting himself as a contender in the 2028 election by selling red caps that simply read “Trump 2028” through the Trump Organization.
However, Donald Trump will have held the office for two terms by then, which is the maximum allowed by the US Constitution.
Following Trump’s remarks that he is “not joking” about wanting to serve a third term as US president, the $50 cap (£38) was announced.
There are ways to circumvent the US Constitution’s clause that “no person… shall be elected more than twice,” according to some Trump supporters and the president himself.
