KARACHI: In Karachi, which is home to more than 20 million people, almost half of the population lacks access to safe drinking water, according to a shocking new research from the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR).
The paper also cautions that if immediate corrective action is not taken, Pakistan may run out of potable water by 2040.
The results show that more than 90% of Karachi’s water sources are tainted with dangerous pollution, forcing 81% of the city’s citizens to buy drinking water.
