BEIJING: Two boats carrying tourists sank on Sunday in southwestern China, resulting in at least three fatalities, 14 missing persons, and 60 hospitalized, according to Chinese media.
According to the Xinhua news agency, the passenger boats capsized “on a river in a tourist attraction” in Qianxi city, Guizhou province.
Additional information regarding the nature of the attraction and the incident’s circumstances was not immediately included in the report.
Rescuers were looking for 14 people who had been reported missing.
According to Xinhua, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for “all-out efforts” in the search and rescue activities as well as in the care of those who were hurt.
