As concerns of a regional confrontation grow in the wake of an attack in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) that New Delhi blamed on Pakistan, government authorities announced that India would hold simulated civil defense drills on Wednesday.
In a statement, Kanchan Gupta, a senior advisor in the communication ministry, stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs has requested that multiple states hold simulated exercises to ensure successful civil defense.
The “training of civilians, students, etc. on the civil defense aspects to protect themselves in the event of a hostile attack” and the practice of a “evacuation plan” are necessary, according to Gupta.
Additionally, drills will test air raid warning sirens, be ready for blackouts, and prepare critical camouflage installations.
