Major online fashion merchants and small Indian grocery stores are boycotting Turkish goods, including apparel, coffee, chocolates, jams, and cosmetics, as resentment over Turkiye’s backing of Pakistan in a conflict with India grows.
Following India’s military actions in response to an incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan publicly showed support for Pakistan. Before a ceasefire was announced, cross-border violence raged for four days.
An “indefinite and total boycott” of all Turkish-origin items, including chocolates, wafers, jams, biscuits, and skincare products, was announced on Monday by the All India Consumer items Distributors Federation (AICPDF), which serves 13 million small grocery stores.
