On Monday, the Indian Supreme Court questioned if Madhya Pradesh BJP minister Kunwar Vijay Shah’s apologies for his comments against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi was a form of “crocodile tears” meant to avoid litigation.
Colonel Qureshi was one of two officers that briefed the media on the military components of Operation Sindoor, along with Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, according to Indian media.
Justice Surya Kant and Justice N Kotiswar Singh’s bench stated that the court did not require the minister’s apology.
The court remarked, “The kind of crass comments you made, completely thoughtlessly… We don’t need this apology,” adding that it appeared to be “crocodile tears” meant to evade legal action.
