While Islamabad has frequently praised US President Donald Trump for his assistance in bringing an end to the cross-border hostilities, India has denied any involvement on the part of the US in mediating the recent ceasefire with Pakistan, claiming that the halt was merely “bilateral.”
After hours of gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC), which divides Azad Jammu and Kashmir from Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a truce was agreed upon on May 11.
Following India’s operations in Pakistan, which were characterized as a reaction to the Pahalgam event last month, there has been an increased military confrontation between the two sides. A nuclear conflict was feared as a result of the cross-border tensions.
