According to the head of a group established to provide relief in Gaza as part of a contentious plan supported by Israel, the organization could not operate in a manner consistent with “humanitarian principles” and resigned.
Late on Sunday, Jake Wood resigned from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), claiming that the organization could not uphold its “humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence” tenets.
The US-backed proposal calls for private companies to transport aid through distribution points authorized by Israel. The UN criticized it and has stated that it will not take part.
On Monday evening, the GHF announced that it had sent its first assistance supplies to Gaza and that the distribution process was underway for the Gazan populace.
