PARIS: To celebrate their team’s first-ever Champions League victory, hundreds of Paris Saint-Germain supporters flocked to the city’s streets on Saturday night.
Police arrested around 300 individuals as some celebrations became unruly, despite the fact that the majority of supporters applauded, sung, and danced peacefully. Clashes erupted close to well-known locations including the Champs-Élysées and Parc des Princes stadium, and fireworks were let off.
The festive evening became tense in several areas of the city when police used water cannons to quell the crowds.
Scuffles erupted close to Paris’ Champs-Élysées avenue and PSG’s Parc des Princes stadium, where 48,000 people watched the team’s 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in Munich on large screens, according to Paris police.
Nearly 300 persons were arrested, the majority of them were suspected of having fireworks.
