ISLAMABAD According to The News on Thursday, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) told the Senate on Wednesday that about 2,500 bureaucrats, including four federal secretaries, are dual nationals.
Afnan Ullah Khan, a senator from the PML-N, said he has presented a measure in the House to prohibit civil personnel from having dual nationality during the ongoing budget debate. Although the relevant Senate committee unanimously passed the bill, it has not yet been introduced in the entire House.
Senator Afnan questioned the allegiance of people who are simultaneously nationals of two different countries. He emphasized that Pakistan also harbors Zionist operatives and that a major price could be paid if prompt action is not taken, citing a recent instance involving foreign agents in Iran.
