PESHAWAR: According to The News on Thursday, the former prime minister has now objected to the province’s surplus budget under the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) requirements, adding to the difficulties facing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s passage of the budget for Fiscal Year 2025–2026.
The move follows criticism of KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and his administration after the provincial parliament approved the FY26 budget without Khan’s consent. Khan has been detained at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail since September 2023.
The provincial chief executive and other MPAs have been referred to as “traitors” by PTI activists who have since attacked CM Gandapur.
