India’s foreign minister warned his Chinese counterpart in Beijing on Monday that in order to normalize their relationship, India and China must ease tensions along their border, withdraw troops, and refrain from “restrictive trade measures.”
On his first visit to Beijing since 2020, when a deadly border conflict between their troops resulted in a four-year military standoff and strained relations until a thaw started in October, India’s Subrahmanyam Jaishankar visited Wang Yi.
Jaishankar informed Wang that the countries’ “good progress” in normalizing relations over the last nine months as a result of the tensions along their border being resolved.
