LAHORE: In relation to the May 9 case, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday sentenced a number of PTI leaders, including Dr. Yasmin Rashid and Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed, to ten years in prison apiece.
In the same case, the court also sentenced Afzal Azeem Pahat, PTI leader Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, and former Punjab governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema. The ATC announced the verdict today after it had been reserved earlier.
In the same case, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister, was cleared by the court. Aizaz Rafiq, Hamza Azeem Pahat, and Rana Tanveer are among the others who were found not guilty.
The latest verdict gave another blow to the Imran Khan-founded party as earlier today, another ATC in Sargodha sentenced Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Ahmed Khan Bachar.
