ISLAMABAD The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reports that the country’s death toll from the monsoon spell has now reached 258 after at least six people were murdered and five others were injured as a result of the country’s recent 24-hour period of intense rainfall.
Three of the deaths, the agency said Thursday, took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while five others were hurt. In addition, rain-related incidents claimed the lives of one person in Sindh and two in Islamabad.
According to the NDMA, 616 people have been injured and 258 people have perished nationwide since the recent monsoon season began.
There are 89 males, 46 women, and 123 children among the dead. There are 170 women and 243 men among the injured.
