ISLAMABAD On Thursday, an Islamabad anti-terrorism court (ATC) revoked the arrest warrant for Omar Ayub Khan, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, related to a PTI demonstration that took place in October of last year.
After the opposition leader’s attorney came in court and filed an exemption plea, ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra, who had earlier in the day issued a bailable arrest warrant for the leader, suspended the warrant.
The charge against Ayub and other PTI leaders was filed at the Shahzad Town police station after conflicts between police and PTI supporters on October 4, 2024.
However, after submitting a request the day before, Senator Azam Swati was given an exemption from personal presence during today’s ATC session.
