KARACHI: Sunday saw strong downpours for the second day in a row, and much of the port city is still buried in the rain.
North Karachi, the Superhighway, the Bufferzone, Nagan Chowrangi, Saadi Town, North Naziabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, New MA Jinnah Road, Nazimabad, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Shah Faisal Scheme 33, and other places saw heavy to moderate rains on the second day.
Nimbus clouds continued to linger in the city’s northern and central regions, the Met Office reported, resulting in sporadic downpours.
The meteorological department stated, “The series of rains may continue intermittently till evening,” noting that this was the city’s first experience with such rainfall in February for 40 years.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted earlier today that Karachi would continue to have gloomy weather with sporadic showers in different sections of the city.
The PMD said that the city’s current temperature is 19.9 C and that winds are coming from the northeast at a speed of 8 km/h. It stated that during the day, winds of 20 to 25 km/h are anticipated.
The Met Office reported that the city’s recorded humidity was 92%.
Rainwater that hasn’t yet been evacuated from the city is still clogging up a number of places, including key thoroughfares. This covers the following: Shah Faisal Colony area near Shama Center; Qayyumabad Chowrangi; II Chundrigar Road; Burns Road; Arts Council; and Korangi Industrial Area Road from Godown Chowrangi to Chamra Chowrangi. People are forced to travel lengthy distances to get to their destinations as a result.
On the other hand, rainwater has been removed from Hassan Square, Essa Nagri, Gurumandir, and Safoora Chowrangi.
