Austin Butler highlighted the difficult circumstances under which he had to do his Dune role.
The 32-year-old actor discussed what it was like to work on Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi production, which had 110-degree-warm sets.
Austin, who portrays Baron Vladimir Harkonnen’s cruel nephew Feyd-Rautha in Dune: Part 2, told Entertainment Weekly, “It was 110 degrees and extremely hot. I was wearing a bald cap and standing between two soundstages that were nothing more than gray boxes with 200-foot walls and sand.
He said, “It became like a microwave. People were passing out from heatstroke. And it was only my first week.
However, the Oscar candidate viewed the demanding scenario as a “bonding experience.”
“It definitely unites the whole staff. “Being in such an uncomfortable environment is very humbling,” he remarked.
Denis reportedly breathed a sigh of relief that he wouldn’t have to film both Dune films back to back.
“Both films were produced in quite tough conditions, and it’s very physically demanding, so having a break in between them was a blessing. “My first thought was to shoot both films back to back, but now I think I would have died,” he said.
