KARACHI: On Friday, a day after the city government cautioned citizens to limit their movements owing to the expected heavy rain, several regions of Karachi saw sporadic rains and thunderstorms.
Heavy rain has fallen in II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Sarjani Town, Malir, North Karachi, Korangi Industrial Area, Orangi Town, Baldia Town, Manghopir, Northern Bypass, and Sohrab Goth Town.
Meanwhile, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced the municipal administration’s plans to avoid any disruption to Karachi citizens.
“Apart from pumps, 53 of these suction vehicles have been moved to various locations for clearing rainwater as and when required,” he posted on X, also known as Twitter.
The city’s mayor further stated that, in addition to traffic cops, wardens have been assigned to major arteries to help ease the flow of traffic.
The torrential rain in the port city disrupted flight operations at the Jinnah International Airport. As per the details, Islamabad-bound flight PK-368 was delayed by over one hour.
Another Islamabad flight PK-308 was also delayed for one hour. Multan-bound flight PK-330 would depart around one hour late. A Peshawar-bound flight would face over 2 hours delay due to the heavy rain.
