While some women may be tempted to apply foundation before hitting the gym, a recent study warns against exercising while wearing makeup, stressing the potential negative effects on skin health, according to the Daily Mail.
The study, published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, included 43 healthy college students and found that wearing foundation while exercising had negative effects on skin hydration, pore size, and oil levels.
Participants in the study applied foundation cream to one side of their faces and left the other half makeup-free. A skin analysis gadget evaluated the skin before and after a 20-minute treadmill run.
The results suggested that while moisture increased in both makeup and non-makeup zones post-exercise, the cosmetic zones showed a stronger moisture surge, perhaps due to the makeup hindering moisture evaporation.
