Researchers are working to produce a new kind of bread that tastes and looks like white bread but is just as healthy as wholemeal.
The project, which aims to enhance the health advantages of UK food, has received funding from the government and is aimed at white bread enthusiasts.
In addition to bran and wheat germ—which are typically taken out of white flour—the researchers also intend to incorporate tiny amounts of peas, beans, and cereals into the bread mixture.
In the past, bakers have tried adding bran to their flour in an effort to make their white loaves healthier, but their customers didn’t appreciate the texture or taste.
We are currently in the early phases of the research study.
