According to research published in the journal Nature, scientists have purportedly solved the enigma surrounding the atmosphere of the recently discovered fluffy exoplanet WASP-107 b, thus they are no longer perplexed by it.
WASP-107 b is a planet of the size of Jupiter that is situated 200 light years from Earth.
According to Newsweek, the results imply that the planet’s core is significantly warmer than anticipated.
The cotton-candy planet was initially found in 2017 as it revolved around its axis star at a distance of 5.1 million miles, which is considerably closer than Earth.
Co-author of one of the studies and Arizona State University researcher Luis Welbanks stated in a statement: “Based on its radius, mass, age, and assumed internal temperature, we thought WASP-107 b had a very small, rocky core surrounded by a huge mass of hydrogen and helium.”
