Myth 1: Stomach pains are relieved with ginger ale
As Michelle Jaelin, a qualified dietitian in Ontario, Canada, pointed out to the News,, most commercial ginger ales don’t really include the genuine thing, even though actual ginger can help relieve stomachaches.
Because ginger ale is sweet and fizzy, parents continue to feed their kids this childhood myth, she added.
“It makes parents feel better that they are doing something for their child when they aren’t feeling well, and the myth persisted as a drink that helps a stomach ache,” Jaelin stated.
According to the Healthline website, drinking carbonated beverages may actually exacerbate stomach pain by producing gas in the digestive tract.
