With the Taliban regaining power, there had been an increase in terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, which has caused anxiety throughout the area. The terrorism in Afghanistan is a worldwide concern, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, who made this claim during a recent meeting of the BRICS Counter-Terrorism Working Group in Moscow.
Vershinin underlined the necessity of joint efforts to combat terrorism in the Middle East and Eastern Syria and asked Afghanistan to act swiftly against terrorist organizations. He also brought up the international sanctions imposed on the Taliban, ISIS, and Al-Qaeda as a result of their terrorist actions.
According to a report by the BRICS monitoring team, international terrorist groups continue to see Afghanistan as a safe haven, with the Taliban having a history of helping them. The group issues a warning that because of the Taliban government’s passivity, Al-Qaeda and ISIS are becoming more powerful in Afghanistan.Al-Qaeda has reportedly developed a foothold in five Afghan districts, including Kabul and Nangarhar, according to a recent UN Security Council assessment. According to the study, Al-Qaeda is recruiting, reorganizing, and setting up training centers on Afghan soil.
According to international media sources, the Taliban leadership is not working with its neighbors to uphold regional peace, which could lead to uncertainty and instability in the region.
