After more than four hours on Friday, the multi-story building on Sharea Faisal in Karachi was cleared of flames. The 40 people who were stranded on the building’s roof, including the women, were all successfully rescued.
Rescue officials said that one firefighter was hurt but that no injuries had been reported.
The building known as the Kashif Centre was rapidly completely destroyed by the fire that started on the second floor. According to early reports, the fire was caused by a wiring short circuit.
