Under the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the Cabinet Committee on Privatization met to talk about the Privatization Program for 2024–2029.
The Ministry of Privatization gave a thorough briefing on the initiative during the meeting. The committee authorized the privatization of 24 government-owned organizations and approved a budget of Rs 8.16 billion for the Privatization Commission.
The statement states that after the evaluation process is over, other institutions will be included in the privatization initiative.
The decision to defer the transfer of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) shares to sovereign wealth funds has been made; instead, the shares will now be held by the Privatization Commission.
The committee stressed that non-strategic or non-essential firms will be privatized.
