The United States has promised to keep working urgently with Pakistan to address the malnutrition crisis brought on by the terrible floods that occurred in 2022.
Over 1,700 people lost their lives as a result of the floods, and millions more—especially women and children—were at risk of dying from starvation.
A representative for the US Embassy in Pakistan, Jonathan Lalley, posted a video on social media with the caption, “Of the more than $215 million the United States provided for flood relief and recovery, nearly $100 million went toward addressing malnutrition.”
While outlining the embassy’s actions, Lalley disclosed that “emergency food and nutrition” were given to the impacted families by the embassy and the United Nations World Food Programme.
