As rivalry heats up in the greatest smartphone market in the world, Apple’s iPhone sales in China fell 0.3% in the third quarter of 2024 while rival Huawei reported a 42% increase.
According to data released by researcher IDC on Friday, Apple came in second with a 15.6% market share, down 0.5 percentage points from the previous year, while Huawei took third place with a 15.3% market share, up 4.2 percentage points.
With a market share of 18.6%, Vivo, which mostly offers low-cost phones, was the leading seller.
The disparate results come after Huawei made a resurgence in the high-end market last year with its Mate 60 series, which had a chip that analysts claimed was made in the country.
With the debut of its most recent Pura 70 model earlier this year, the Chinese tech giant significantly weakened Apple’s stronghold.
