Calls for information regarding Franco-Algerian novelist Boualem Sansal, who vanished after flying to Algiers last Saturday, have been supported by Emmanuel Macron of France.
According to certain French media, Sansal, a vocal opponent of the Algerian government, was taken into custody by Algerian police as soon as he got off the aircraft.
According to a spokesperson at the Elysée Palace, “the president is very concerned and is following the situation closely.” “He values this great writer’s and thinker’s freedom greatly.”
Sansal frequently appeared on French media, criticizing the Algerian government and the spread of Islamism. Several other well-known French politicians, mostly from the center and right, have expressed their concerns about him.
