According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokeswoman, the Israeli cabinet is expected to ratify a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon later Tuesday, which could put an end to the thousands-deadly conflict.
A person with knowledge of the situation told CNN on Monday that Netanyahu had given his assent “in principle” to the plan, adding that the prime minister had hinted at his possible support for the agreement with Hezbollah during a security meeting with Israeli officials on Sunday evening.
Earlier, sources with knowledge of the negotiations said that although the talks seem to be heading in the right direction toward a deal, they acknowledged that one mistake may throw the talks off balance as Israel and Hezbollah continue to exchange gunfire.
However, a Lebanese official with knowledge of the talks stated that a truce is anticipated to be declared later Monday night.
