ISLAMABAD: Justice Musarrat Hilali of the Supreme Court has questioned attorney Salman Akram Raja about if he admitted that a crime was committed on May 9, 2023, and why fundamental rights are now being emphasized after the incident’s boundaries were breached.
“Limits were crossed on May 9, and now you remember basic rights?” As a seven-member constitutional bench led by Justice Amin-Ud-Din Khan heard an intra-court appeal against civilians’ military trials on Thursday, Justice Hilali made a statement.
Presenting convicted felon Arzam Junaid, Raja contended that the commanding officer could only submit serious cases to an independent forum and that court-martial trials in the UK were presided over by high court-style judges rather than military personnel.
Justice Amin-Ud-Din, however, retorted that the bench was worried.
