As much as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted attempts to vaccinate children against fatal diseases, the United Nations said Thursday that cuts to global humanitarian funding, spearheaded by the United States, are doing the same.
Worldwide, there has been a rise in infectious illness outbreaks, such as yellow fever, meningitis, and measles.
In the meantime, World Health Organization offices in 108 mostly low and lower-middle income countries reported that the funding cuts had a major impact on routine and emergency vaccines in over half of the countries at the beginning of April.
