At a time when tensions between India and Pakistan are on the rise, the United States has cleared a potential $131 million arms sale with India to help enhance its maritime surveillance system.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), a division of the US government that oversees defense sales to other nations, made the announcement on April 30.
SeaVision software, training, support services, and other tools to assist India in monitoring activity in the Indo-Pacific region would be included in the deal, according to the DSCA.
According to an official statement from the DSCA, “this sale will strengthen India’s position in the region and improve its ability to detect threats.”
