After Halyna Hutchins passed away, Josh Hopkins, who starred in Rust, said he “didn’t know what to think” about completing the film.
For those who are unaware, a 44-year-old Ukrainian cinematographer was unintentionally shot and died on the New Mexico set of the film in 2021.
The final credits of Rust honor the late cinematographer by quoting her, “What can we do to make this better?” which she often said while filming.
Hopkins claimed in a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine that Hutchins’ ideology “inspired everyone constantly,” which is why the rest of the cast and crew came back to finish the picture in 2023.
