KARACHI: As of June 15, all forms of plastic shopping and carrier bags are prohibited from being manufactured, stored, sold, or used in the province by the Sindh government.
The Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development Department (ECC&CDD) stated in a notification that the broad ban covers recycled, black, oxo-degradable, and non-degradable plastic bags of any weight or size.
The ruling was decided in accordance with Section 14(3) of the Sindh Environmental Protection Act 2014 and the Sindh Prohibition of Non-Degradable Plastic Products Rules 2014.
