NEW DELHI: Following thousands of people attending a well-known fire-walking ceremony, authorities said on Saturday that six persons had been crushed to death at a Hindu temple in the coastal Indian state of Goa.
According to a statement released by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, he was “deeply saddened by the tragic stampede” that occurred at the Lairai Devi temple in the Shirgao village early on Saturday morning.
When Sawant told reporters, “six people died even before they could be brought to the hospital,”
“All possible support” will be provided to the relatives of those slain or injured, he stated during his visit to the hospital.
