WASHINGTON: As tensions between India and Pakistan rise, the founder of the account said Wednesday that Meta had suspended a well-known Muslim news page on Instagram in India at the government’s request, calling the action “censorship.”
When Indian Instagram users attempted to view posts from the @Muslim page, which has 6.7 million followers, they were greeted with the following message: “Account not available in India.” certain is as a result of our compliance with a court order to limit certain content.
The Indian government did not immediately respond to the ban, which follows the blocking of access to Pakistani actors’ and cricket players’ social media accounts.
“Our followers in India have sent me hundreds of emails, comments, and messages stating that they are unable to access our account.”
