Community members accused African Parks officers of raping, waterboarding, and beating residents to prevent them from visiting their ancestral trees, which are now in a conservation area, according to a report released by the British daily the Mail on Sunday last year.
However, African Parks has not released the results of an independent investigation into the conduct of its rangers in Congo-Brazzaville.
Rather, it has released a statement admitting that it is responsible for the Odzala-Kokoua National Park, where violations of human rights have taken place. Details of the abuse have not been included.
